Fresh complaints by Anti-Corruption Bureau in water tank scam

SURAT: Anti-Corruption Bureau registered three fresh cases in Valsad of embezzlement of Rs 80 lakh government money by claiming funds for 20 water tanks which exist only on paper or it was constructed with much laser cost. ACB booked total 21 accused including two government officers and others who are contractors for involvement in the scam.
Earlier in August ACB had exposed the water tank scam of Gujarat Land Development Corporation (GLDC) and booked 17 accused in Valsad for usurping grant money of Rs 57 lakh for construction of 13 water tanks. All 17 accused booked in the case were arrested.

Under the government scheme, grant for water tanks were provided by GLDC to construct water tanks for farming. Similar to the farm pond scam, the accused officials and contractors carried out a scam by claiming money and without developing the infrastructure.

In the fresh complaint two accused are same who were booked in past water tank cases. Pravin Premal, in-charge assistant director and Yusuf Bhikha, field assistant were also booked in the earlier complaint and are prime accused in the fresh three cases.
