Udupi district administration is gearing up for the
Loksabha by-polls to
Shivamogga LS constituency in wake of
Election Commission of India notifying polls to the constituency on Saturday. Election will be held on November 3 and counting held on November 6, noted district election officer and deputy commissioner

Baindoor assembly constituency in the district is part of the LS constituency.
DC told reporters that the election code of conduct has come in to force with announcement of calendar of events for the by-polls and will be in force up to November 8. As on January 1, 2018, there are 2,21,972 regular, 1786 differently abled and 33 service voters in Baindoor assembly constituency. In all, 243 polling stations and three additional polling stations will be set up for the by polls in which EVMs and VVPAT machines will be used.
Deputy director, department of land records and technical assistant, land settlement to the DC has been appointed assistant election officer. There will be three video surveillance teams, as many flying squads, two static surveillance teams, three sector officials teams, three video surveillance team, one model code of conduct team, one account team, she said, adding 246 polling officers and as many assistant polling officers will be needed for the polls.
In addition, there is requirement of 123 reserve polling officials, she said. Complaints pertaining to polls will be received at the DCs office control room on toll free number 1088 and 0820-2574920 and at Baindoor taluk office on 08254-251657. EVMs will be demustered at Baindoor and the same transported to Shivamogga for the counting process, DC said.
