VARANASI: Showing solidarity to accused cop in Vivek Tiwari murder case cost dear for two police constables- Shadab Siddiqui and Keshav Pandey- of Ghazipur district as they were suspended on Sunday.

IG Varanasi range, VS Meena said that Shadab instigated Keshav after which the latter uploaded their photographs with black bands on Saturday.

After the matter came to light, SP Ghazipur asked SP rural to probe into it. On getting SP's report, both were suspended on Sunday, added Meena.

Shadab and Keshav had appered in social media with black bands and their pictures went viral within a few hours on Saturday.

Earlier, two dismissed policemen Avinash Pathak and Brajendra Yadav were arrested in Mirzapur and Varanasi respectively for inciting policemen and gathering support for the prime accused in Apple executive Vivek Tiwari’s killing case, constable Prashant Choudhary.

Yadav is the founder president of Arajpatrit Police Welfare Association, while Pathak is the general secretary of this outfit that had given a call to all policemen to wear black band on Friday in support of Choudhary.

The association also called upon the police fraternity to observe fast by boycotting the mess on October 11 to show their solidarity with Prashant Choudhary and Sandeep Rana.
