Kamal said that this should not be regarded as an anti-industry move but that one must look out for the interests of the people. He added that personal gain of any individual must not trump the quality of life of the people.
The 63-year-old also recently met with members of the Elders for Elders coalition of Help Age India at his office in Chennai and assured them of his support in the struggle for better pension. Nearly, 1,500 representatives of the foundation returned to Chennai after representing TN at the public meeting held regarding increasing the ‘Old age pension’ in Delhi, organised by ‘Pension Parishad.’
“I don’t require anybody’s permission to protect my parents. You are the youngsters of yesterday. The road that we walk on, was laid by you. Hence, it is our duty to take care of your well-being. You are Tamilians, it is the duty of Tamilians to protect you,” said the MNM president, upon meeting them.
Next, following his Erode, Kanniyakumari and Tirupur tours, Kamal is set to resume his tour with the people ‘Makkal Udanaana Payanam’ by visiting Salem and Namakkal district between October 13 and 15.
Meanwhile, the actor-turned-politician also recently stated that he sees Rahul Gandhi as a potential prime minister. Speaking at a media event in New Delhi the actor-politician said that just as people in Tamil Nadu rate his chances in politics, he sees Rahul Gandhi to have a connect with the people.
About alliances Kamal said that he is open to even allying with the BJP but that it will only be possible if the stance of the BJP in Tamil Nadu is pro-people. He stated that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam will not ally with any party accused of corruption as that would defeat the basic ethos of the party.
