3 held with Rs 5 crore heroin in Samrala

LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Saturday arrested three men with one kg of heroin, worth Rs 5 crore in the international market, near Bardhalan police post in Samrala.

The accused were identified as Sapinder Singh of Behla in Tarn Taran, Jagtar Singh Jagga and Hardeep Singh of Gandiwind in Tarn Taran.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a police team was conducting checks at a special check post set up near Bardhalan police post.

Police said during checking, police saw a car (registration number DL2CP-3306) coming at high speed from Khanna side.

During checking, police found 300g of heroin each from Sapinder Singh and Jagtar Singh while Hardeep was carrying 400g of the contraband.

Samrala police later booked the accused under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. Police said there is a possibility of major disclosures from them.

The SSP said one Balkar Singh had given the trio the consignment and he has been named in the FIR.

Police officials said that the accused had brought the consignment from Tarn Taran and were to supply the same either in Ludhiana or Nawanshahr. They said Jagtar, who is in his mid-40s, had a major role in drug peddling and was involved in the trade for the past around three months and was wanted in a case in Ludhiana.
