Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officers have arrested Amol Kale, main accused in journalist Gauri Lankesh and rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder case, and two of his associates in connection with their alleged involvement in a terror conspiracy case involving right-wing members.
According to ATS sources, Kale, his associates Amit Badri and Ganesh Mistre were produced before the Sessions Court on Saturday, and they were remanded to police custody until October 12.
The police sources claimed that Kale, Badri and Mistre were involved in the conspiracy to carry out terror activities in the state. "We suspect involvement of Kale, Badri and Mistre in the conspiracies to disrupt Sunburn event that happened last year in Pune and attempt to disrupt a movie show in Kalyan this year.
Interrogatino of Kale, who is also an accused in Dabholkar murder case in Pune, will also help us understand about the functioning of the group, it's plans and other members," said an ATS officer.
In August and September, this year, ATS had arrested 12 persons including Vaibhav Raut, Sharad Kalaskar, Sudhnava Ghondhalekar, Shrikant Pangarkar and Avinash Pawar in a terror conspiracy case, wherein crude bombs and weapons were seized from their possession. One of the accused Kalaskar was also involved in the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar in Pune, probe had revealed.
