NOIDA: Residents of Supertech Ecovillage-II, a housing society in Noida Extension, are living in constant fear due increasing number of stray dogs that sneak into their premises. In the past one month, there were at least five cases of dog attacks in the society.
On Friday, strays attacked two children, Falgundi Kumar and Naitik Tyagi, inside the society. The residents have now demanded that the builder take adequate steps to keep the stays out of the society.

According to the residents, there are 20-25 stray dogs which roam around the society premises as they can easily sneak through the gates or some spots.

Ashish Tyagi, father of Naitik (3), who was bitten, said a stray dog attacked his son near the reception of the tower around 6.30pm on Friday. The boy’s mother was also with him and they cried for help when the dog attacked the child. The security guards did not help, he alleged. “Somehow my wife rescued him and took him to Fortis Hospital in Sector 62,” said Tyagi.

Tyagi said his son would now have to undergo the pain of regular anti-rabies injections for no fault of his. These street dogs scare even adults, leave alone kids, he said.

Kuldeep Kumar, father of Falgundi, who was also bitten, said his daughter was chased and bitten by one of the stray dogs when she went to play with other children at 6.30 pm on Friday.

Pravesh Gupta, estate manager of the society, said they were taking steps to end the menace. “We will deploy a team to drive out the strays from the society.

“We will also write a letter to Greater Noida Authority for vaccination of these dogs,” Gupta said.

However, animal lovers advised a scientific approach to be adopted to resolve the issue. Peeyush Aggarwal, a dog lover in Noida, said they can’t shift the stray dogs from one place to another. “Proper vaccination and sterilization are the only solutions and these are the responsibility of concerned authorities and society,” he added.
