ALLAHABAD: A three-yearold girl was allegedly
kidnapped and then sexually assaulted in a market near Mazidia Islamia Inter College in Kareli on Saturday.
The minor was a resident of a slum in Karelibaghand was lured by an unidentified person to a secluded place on Friday evening.
When she did not return for several hours, her parents tried looking for her. They later filed a complaint with the police at 2am. Police also sent constables with the girl’s parents to trace the child but were unable to find her.
Station officer of Kareily police station, AP Singh, said, “Around 5am, we received the information that the body of an unconscious child was spotted in the market area and she was bleeding profusely.”
The girl has been admitted to Colvin Hospital where her condition is said to be critical. “The girl is a minor so a case of kidnapping from lawful guardianship under section 363 of IPC was filed,” the inspector added.
Meanwhile, Tharwai police arrested a 30-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl in Meerapur village.
The accused, identified as Javed, has been booked under POCSO Act. He had offered her chocolates to lure her.
