Romanians are going to the polls for the second day in a row Sunday to vote on a  constitutional ban  to same-sex marriage.

The country already has laws on the books banning same-sex marriage.

This referendum seeks to officially define marriage as being "between a man and a woman." The country's constitution currently defines it as a union "between spouses." Turnout has reportedly been pretty low.  Reuters reports  only about 12 percent of eligible voters had turned out by midmorning on Sunday.

That could be good news for those campaigning against the proposed ban, since it needs at least 30 percent turnout to be valid.

But the referendum is still highly popular in the country.

All but one political party endorsed it, and one poll predicted 90 percent of people expected to vote supported the ban.

Polls close at 9 p.m.
