NOIDA: A 48-year-old
woman was allegedly killed by her deaf and mute neighbour after she objected to him peeping into her house repeatedly.
Police said the victim,
Ganga Rani (48), who worked as a domestic help, lived with her daughter Ragini. Her son Jitendra and his wife live in the same colony but a few houses down the line. The accused, Indra Raj, (25), lives next door.
Neighbours said Indra had peeped into the woman’s house around 11.30pm on Saturday. “Indra would often come to the victim’s house. The woman did not like how the man would always look through her windows or ring the bell unnecessarily,” said
Deepak Bansal, a neighbour.
He said they got to know about the alleged murder after they heard Ragini shouting. “She told us Indra was peeping again through the window and Ganga Rani had gone to his house to protest this. However, he locked her inside and slit her throat. After a while, Ragini stepped out to look for her mother and saw Indra covered in blood. He fled the spot then,” said Deepak.
Amit Singh, the SHO of Sector 39 police station, said a case had been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. “The accused is absconding. We are on the lookout for him,” said Singh.
The accused is deaf and mute and stays alone, police said. The cops added that both the victim and the accused are from
Mahoba district.
