IAS officers to oversee monsoon preparedness

CHENNAI: With meteorological department forecasting rain in the city for the next few days and the northeast monsoon to set in soon, Municipal Administration minister SP Velumani has designated IAS  officers to oversee monsoon preparedness and relief activities for each zone, a Greater Chennai Corporation release said.

These officers will conduct daily inspection of their zones to ensure that flood mitigation measures are undertaken.
