Coimbatore: The state municipal administration minister SP Velumani on Saturday said the AMMK deputy secretary TTV Dhinakaran is passing baseless allegations against the chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam as he is afraid of losing the by-election in Thirupparangundram.
The minister was in the city to attend the party’s internal meeting at its headquarters. The minister said he was confident of winning the Thirupurangundram by-election with a great majority.
“Dhinakaran just wants to create confusion in the AIADMK, but the party was formed by former chief minister MG Ramachandran and developed by J Jayalalithaa. Hence, nobody can neither confuse nor split the party,” he said.
When asked whether he demanded deputy chief minister post after the demise of former chief minister, he denied such allegations.
Also, he refused to comment, when the reporters asked about governor Panwarilal Purohit's statement on corruption in the recruitment of the vice-chancellors in the state universities.
About tackling heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, he said the state machineries are prepared to handle any situation. “We have also set up camps across the state for people to stay if their houses are inundated with rain water,” he said.
