CHANDIGARH: Many girl students showed their creative acting skills on Friday — third day of Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival — at Dev Samaj College for Women in Sector 45, Chandigarh.

As many as six teams participated in a skit competition, theme of which varied from child abuse to mob lynching, drugs issues and women empowerment. Other competitions like mimicry and one-act play were also held.

“The participants displayed their acting talent and other skills in various competitions today.

“The idea behind organizing these competitions was to provide a platform to young actors and create awareness on various social evils,” said Jaspal Kaur principal of Dev Samaj College for Women in Sector 45, Chandigarh.

Under the heritage art and craft segment, a quiz competition, along with embroidery, phulkari, bagh dasuti, pakhi designing, crochet work, knitting and mehndi designing competition, was organised.

Meanwhile, Jaspal welcomed the chief guest Pali Bhupinder director of Dramatist Screen Writer at University School of Open Learning.

Bal Mukund Sharma additional director of Markfed Punjab was the guest of honour at the event.

Agnese Dhillon secretary of Dev Samaj managing committee distributed prizes and congratulated the students.

The chief guest appreciated the hard work put in by the students and encouraged them to thrive well in the future.
