Taimoor Nagar killing: Former New Friends Colony SHO suspended

The Police has placed under suspension a former police who was line-attached after the killing of a man in the Taimoor Nagar locality last week.

A local, (34), was shot dead by two men last Sunday in southeast Delhi's Taimoor Nagar in New Friends Colony, triggering protests in the area.

The victim's family claimed Rupesh was shot dead allegedly by drug peddlers who were nursing a grudge against them as Basoya's brother, Umesh, had complained about the menace.

They alleged that the police did not take any action on them.

Kumar had been sent to district lines earlier this week and was placed under suspension on Saturday.

"Based on the findings of a vigilance enquiry conducted by additional of Police (southeast) to look into the alleged lapses and negligence by local police in the context of killing of Rupesh and the and order problem, the then SHO and sub-inspector are placed under suspension for misconduct and negligence in duty," Biswal said.

The Ajay, constables Surender and had already been placed under suspension earlier this week.

A regular departmental enquiry has been initiated against all of the personnel, the DCP added.

Rupesh's killing had triggered protests in the area and his family had placed his body on the Mathura Road for half an hour and protested against the local police.

The locals had burnt two motorcycles and pelted stones at the police personnel who were trying to manage the crowd.

Two men were arrested on October 4 for allegedly killing Rupesh.
