A man has appeared in court charged over a serious two-vehicle crash on the A499 in Gwynedd.

James Leach, 39, went before Llandudno magistrates this morning charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident in which a man was seriously injured.

Leach of Oak Road, Chelford, Macclesfield, in Cheshire, did not enter a plea.

It follows a collision between a pick-up vehicle and a VW van near Penygroes, which happened at 5am yesterday (Friday, October 5).

The man driving the VW was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with serious, but not life-threatening multiple injuries.

The joiner has been released on bail to appear in court at Caernarfon on Thursday, October 11, on condition he does not enter North Wales except to attend court, doesn’t drive and doesn’t contact witnesses.

  • Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number W141782.
