Ludhiana
The city is dotted with illegal hoardings mainly of leaders of ruling Party- congress. Ironically, the Congress leaders have even not spared sign boards on main roads of city. However the illegal hoardings were installed from last many days but the officials of Municipal Corporation (MC) have turned blind eye into this. The hoardings on sign boards have left the commuters directionless. Interestingly, MC Commissioner has ordered to remove all illegal hoards following which Tehbazaari wing of civic body acted and removed all illegal hoardings but the hoardings of Congress leaders were spared. Recently, the Congress leaders have installed illegal hoardings of Party’s rally to be held in Lambi on October 7.

To mark their presence, the party leaders have installed illegal hoardings with message “Chalo Lambi”on sign boards on Ludhiana- Ferozepur road. Around one month ago, the Congress leaders have installed illegal hoardings on sign boards for greeting Member Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu on his birthday. Ironically, the illegal hoardings of birthday wishes were still staning tall. Earlier, also after the elevation of Bharat Bhuhan Ashu as Cabinet Minister, Election of Mayor, visit of CM Captain Amarinder Singh in city, the illegal hoardings were installed in the city. Apart from Unipoles, roundabouts the political leaders have installed hoardings on electricity transfers and link roads of the area. It is pertinent to mention here that when Congress was in opposition the party has raised issues and demanded action against those who have installed hoardings. Despite several attempts, Mayor Balkar Singh was not available for comment. His assistant said that mayor was busy in meetings.

Opposition parties mum over illegal hoardings
Despite the Congress leaders have covered almost all the uniploes with illegal hoardings the opposition parties were silent on the issue. The Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) have not raised the issue of illegal hoardings. A councilor of Akali Dal on the condition of anonymity said that when the SAD-BJP government was in power they use to install hoardings without any permission and now its time for the Congress leaders. He said that advertisement company owners were close to leaders of all parties but no party will raise the issue.
