The Capital recorded “poor” air quality for the second consecutive day on Saturday, showed data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Stubble burning
While the overall air quality index (AQI) on Friday was recorded at 259, it was recorded at 211 at 4 p.m. on Saturday .
Attributing the drop in air quality to the change in direction of wind, a CPCB official said that stubble burning in Haryana and Punjab was the reason behind the dip.
Senior officials at the Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution Control Authority said that the situation is being monitored closely.
Data from System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) revealed that the PM 10 level in the Capital was 191 while PM 2.5 level was 94.
