Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan on Friday said that he welcomes actor Vijay’s intention to enter politics. The Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder was talking to reporters at the Chennai Airport on Friday, while on his way to a conclave in New Delhi, .
“There is nothing wrong in Vijay expressing his desire to enter politics,” said Mr. Haasan .
It may be recalled that a couple of days ago, speaking at the audio launch of his latest film Sarkar, actor Vijay had said that if he becomes the Chief Minister, he would weed out corruption from society.
Stating that permanent closure of the Sterlite factory was the only solution, Kamal Haasan said: “Makkal Needhi Maiam will submit a petition to the Central team of the National Green Tribunal, expressing the ill-effects of Sterlite in Thoothukudi.”
“With this stand of opposition, it should not be construed as we are against industrial development of the State. Anything not affecting people and the environment is welcome for MNM,” he said.
He said that his party functionaries in Chennai would hand over the letter to the NGT officials.
Asked about the fuel price hike, Kamal Haasan replied, “Do you want me to thank anyone for the small tax reduction?It is unfair. To make a steep hike and reduce only a small amount is a wrong act.”
Expressing his happiness at taking part in the atgrama sabha meeting in Kaliyampoondi near Uthiramerur recently, the actor-politician said, “More villages have be covered to ascertain the reality of peoples’ lives.”
