New Limited-Run Mini Cooper S GT Edition Pays Tribute To Classic 1275 GT

Mini didn’t have a presence at the Paris Auto Show, but the British brand did release a GT Edition for the Cooper S hatch that’s exclusive to France.

Limited to 150 units, the Mini Cooper S GT Edition offered for the three-door hatch draws inspiration from the classic Mini 1275 GT built between 1969 and 1980. The heir to the Cooper S, the 1275 GT contributed to the brand’s sports heritage in the 1970s.

The Cooper S GT Edition pays tribute to that car by adopting unique design elements. On the outside, the small hot hatch combines a Midnight Black Metallic body color with grey and red stripes, GT lettering, red spoilers and mirror caps, a shark fin antenna, as well as piano black trim. The additional headlamps that remind of Mini’s rally fame and the white turn signals are also standard.

The limited edition model rides on John Cooper Works “Spacecraft” 18-inch alloys and features the John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit as well.

Inside, passengers are greeted by door sill plates with “GT” lettering, and a passenger-side 3D-printed dashboard insert with “GT Limited Edition” inscription. A GT logo is also projected on the ground when opening the doors.

As the model is based on a Cooper S, standard equipment is generous and includes dual-zone automatic climate control, reversing camera, connected navigation, full-LED headlights, cruise control with braking function, JCW sports seats with leather/Dinamica upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof, among many other things.

Prices for the Mini Cooper S GT Edition start from €35,900 (roughly $41,280) in France.
