LUDHIANA: Aiming to save lives of local residents and industrial workers in cases of emergencies or natural calamities or disasters, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) held an interactive session for Ludhiana police, hoping to make cops master life-saving methods.
The session included
basic life support (
BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, which were demonstrated by CII experts in collaboration with a city hospital.
Rishi Chopra, convener, CII City Development Core Group, and director of Chopra Industries, said, “Ludhiana is an Industrial town with large migrant population. It is the financial capital of Punjab, therefore the city has its own set of challenges. To overcome those, the police department is a key stakeholder.”
“Today’s interaction with police officers of Ludhiana assumes great importance. Our objective is to provide training with
live demonstration to the police officers regarding life-saving methods which they can use during emergency while dealing with public. Besides, we also explored areas where CII and local police can work together.”
Rajan Sharma, ACP (headquarters), welcomed the CII’s initiative, saying, “The session would help police engage not only with industry, but also the society at large and make them partners in creating a new Ludhiana which will be much safer and smarter in true sense.”
Tejdeep Singh Randhawa, corporate head, SPS Hospital, said 55 first aid kits have also been distributed among police officials who actively participated in this session from different departments.
