MP Barne urges police chief to curb crime

PIMPRI: A Shiv Sena delegation led by MP Shrirang Barne met Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner RK Padmanabhan on Thursday to demand action to curb growing incidents of crime in the industrial city.

Barne alleged that political interference was responsible for increasing crimes in the city. 

Barne alleged, “Many externed goons have been camping in the city and committing crimes.” He also pointed out to the recent cases of sexual assaults in the city in this connection.

The others in the Shiv Sena delegation included the party’s MLA Gautam Chabukswar, district party chief Gajanan Chinchwade, Urmila Kalbhor and Anant Korhale. 

Padmanabhan informed the delegation about various measures taken to curb crimes. He said, “Inefficient police officers are being transferred and they are replaced by meritorious officers.” 

Padmanabhan promised stringent action against the externed persons under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act. He said that although, the police commissionerate is facing a shortage of personnel, efforts are being made to improve efficiency.
