Returning Officer and Karimnagar Collector Sarfaraz Ahmad has called upon the electorate belonging to the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency and the Karimnagar Teachers Constituency of the Telangana Legislative Council to enroll as the voters on or before November 6 in the erstwhile districts of Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that the term of current MLCs from Karimnagar Graduates Constituency T. Swamy Goud and Karimnagar Teachers Constituency P. Sudhakar Reddy would come to an end on March 29, 2019 and the Election Commission had decided to conduct MLC elections before the completion of the term of the sitting MLCs.
He said that they had issued notification for the enrolment for the voters for the Legislative Council elections on October 1.
Limited enrolment
Unlike general elections where enrolment of voters is a continuous process, the voters for Legislative Council elections would have to enrol only before the conduct of elections, he said and informed the electorate to enrol as voters by submitting the Form 18 for Graduates’ Constituency and Form 19 for Teachers’ Constituency.
He said that for the Graduates’ Constituency the voter should have passed the degree examination at least three years before October 1, 2018 and he should be resident of the constituency. For the Teachers Constituency, the voter should have at least three years of teaching experience in government and recognized private educational institutions at least six years before the issuance of notification.
The Collector also informed that they would not accept bulk submission of application forms for the enrolment of voters for the Graduates’ Constituency. They would allow bulk forms submitted by only head of the institutions for the Teachers Constituency. For Graduates’ Constituency, the enrolment forms should be submitted at RDO or tahsildar offices and for the Teachers Constituency with the RDO, tahsildars and also MPDOs and MEOs offices.
