Bjerregaard, Pavan tied at the top in Scotland

Cape Town - Lucas Bjerregaard and Andrea Pavan share the lead after day two of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with defending champion Tyrrell Hatton hot on their heels in Scotland.

The Dane arrived this week off the back of four consecutive top 20s and maintained that form in fine fashion, moving to nine under on a calmer day on the east coast.

High winds had made scoring very difficult on day one but a host of players made the most of friendlier weather on Friday, with Bjerregaard staying bogey-free with an impressive 65 at Kingsbarns Golf Links.

Not to be outdone, Pavan continued his run of good form following on from his maiden European Tour win in August, as the Italian closed out the day with blemish-free 63 to join Bjerregaard at the top of the leaderboard.

Hatton - the first man to ever successfully defend this title last season - sits a shot behind after an impressive round of 66 at the Championship Course Carnoustie, with Austrian Matthias Schwab and Australian Marcus Fraser putting together rounds of 67 and 68 at the Old Course at St. Andrews to join Hatton at eight under.

Englishman Ashley Chesters, who fired a 64 at Kingsbarns, sits a further hot back at seven under and was joined late in the day by Finland’s Mikko Ilonen, who produced a stunning round of 63 at the Old Course.

Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood continued his solid form at Carnoustie with a round of 67 to sit alongside New Zealander Ryan Fox, Greek Peter Karmis and Englishman Lee Slattery at six under after a trio of 67s at Kingsbarns, just one shot clear of American Tony Finau, Englishman Matt Wallace, Frenchman Alex Levy, Scot Stephen Gallacher, South African Oliver Bekker and Italian Edoardo Molinari.
