Bhopal: BJP survey reports hints at denying tickets to 80 MLAs

The report of the survey conducted by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised concern within the party. The survey report may speak of the party winning the elections but with a condition not to give tickets to around 80 of its sitting MLAs. BJP currently has 165 MLAs. The report of cutting tickets of around 80 sitting MLAs has come as a problem. The BJP organization fears that if these sitting MLAs were not given ticket then it may result into revolt and it would be difficult to do damage control. BJP in the previous assembly polls, did not give ticket to around 40 sitting MLAs and had also changed the constituencies of some of its MLAs.

The party is mulling over denying tickets to the same number of MLAs this time too. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had a meeting with BJP national organizational general secretary Ramlal on survey report. The survey was not only conducted by the state BJP. It has also been conducted at national level and if the same report comes then it is said that several big leaders will be denied ticket. The report also revealed that not only MLAs but several ministers were not in a position to win elections. These ministers are working on contesting elections from other seat this time.

Rakesh Chaturvedi seeks ticket from Bhind
Chaudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi, who joined BJP after quitting Congress before 2013 Assembly polls, had a meeting with BJP state president Rakesh Singh on Thursday for half-an-hour. Chaudhary sought ticket to contest assembly polls from Bhind constituency. Narendra Kushwaha is the sitting MLAs from the constituency. Chaudhary has won Bhind assembly seat on four occasions. His brother, Mukesh Chaturvedi is a sitting MLA from Mehgaon. BJP is mulling over not giving ticket to Mukesh this time and in this condition, Chaudhary may be given the ticket. Chaudhary and Rakesh Singh also discussed on impact of agitation of upper castes in Gwalior-Chambal region.
