He was arrested from Chennai on Sept 29

The Kerala High Court on Thursday asked the police to respond to the bail plea of P. Maharajan, an accused in a money lending case. He was arrested from Chennai on September 29. When he appeared before the magistrate after securing bail for a day, he was remanded in custody for 10 days.

The Palluruthy police had registered a case against him on a complaint lodged by Philip, a resident of Kadavanthra. According to the complaint, Maharajan had collected huge interest from him, despite the latter repaying a loan of ₹45 lakh.

The petitioner said the matter was settled between the complainant and the accused. He, therefore, had moved a petition for quashing the case in the High Court.
