The Kerala model of education is moulding a generation of youth who believe in secular and democratic values, Education Minister C. Ravindranath has said.
Releasing a book titled Puthiya Teacherum Puthiya Kuttiyum authored by academic A.K. Abdul Hakeem here on Thursday, the Minister said the education system in government and aided schools in the State had been devised keeping in mind the indigenous ecosystem, culture and history of Kerala.
“In other parts of the world, education is in the hands of either corporates or capitalist forces, who mould students according to market needs. The difference in Kerala is that here people are the deciding force,” said Mr. Ravindranath.
The book is a collection of essays on the ‘Save public education’ campaign taken up by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
