MALDA: A tribal youth was set on fire on Wednesday at a kangaroo court in tribal-dominated Habibpur after it found him guilty in a land tussle. The bid to kill him, however, was foiled by villagers, who called the police. He was reported to be in a serious condition.
Locals said Srimati Hasda and her nephew Mandal Hasda of Chatra Nabinpara village had tiff over their ancestral land, which turned violent on Wednesday. A kangaroo court intervened to resolve the issue. The meeting held Mandal guilty and asked to give up his claim.
