A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped multiple times after being confined to a rented accommodation in Seemapuri, the police said on Wednesday. They have arrested one person in connection with the case.
The woman had come to Delhi in 2015 from Sikkim and worked with private companies in Gurugram. The police said she met accused Rahul, his friend and a woman in July, and was promised a job in a beauty parlour in east Delhi. The victim approached the police on September 23 alleging that Rahul and his friend had confined and gang-raped her in a rented accommodation. She claimed they filmed her and blackmailed her with the video. A case was registered based on her complaint, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav.
The victim’s statement was recorded before the Magistrate on Monday. She alleged in her statement that the two men forced her into immoral trafficking and that the accused woman helped them by “preparing her for customers”. Ms. Yadav said the victim had not mentioned the woman’s role in her complaint. “Sections of immoral trafficking have been added. The role of the woman is being probed,” she said, adding that efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.
