The shares of oil companies were the worst performing shares on Thursday, falling after the announcement made by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely on Centre and oil companies cutting the fuel prices.
The Centre and oil companies will also take a hit of Rs 1.50 per litre and Re 1 per litre, respectively, in their revenues.
Shares of Hindustan Petroleum closed down by more than 12 per cent at Rs 220.60. For Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum, the shares fell by more than 10 per cent. Indian Oil closed at Rs 140.85 while Bharat Petroleum stood at Rs 336.35 at closing bell.
