Auto driver, co-passengers gang rape woman in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: A 28-year-old woman has accused three men, including an auto driver, for allegedly gang-raping her. The woman accused that she hired an auto to reach home in which two men, excluding auto driver, were already present. The accused made her sniff some intoxicating substance after which she got conscious and the accused raped her.

The woman also accused that while fleeing the accused took away gold earnings, mobile and Rs 10,000 in cash from her bag.

The incident occurred on October 1, however, the woman on Wednesday night lodged a police compliant after which the FIR was lodged and one accused was arrested.

The FIR has been lodged against accused Gurdit Singh, of Meharban, Bobby and Amsher Ali under sections of 376-D (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 379 (theft) of IPC. The police by late night have arrested Gurdit Singh from his house.

In her complaint to police, the woman who is an orchestra dancer, alleged that on October 1 around 8:30, she hired an auto after work to reach home. Besides, auto driver, two men were sitting in the auto.

Further she added that she objected to rash driving by the the auto driver after which the two co-passengers who were sitting by her side, made her sniff something intoxicating following which she got unconscious.

The woman alleged, "When I gained conscious I found myself in an unidentified, isolated place. There they accused raped me. The accused also took her mobile phone, Rs 10,000 in cash and a pair of gold earrings form my bag. I begged them to allow me to go. On this the accused warned me with dire consequences if I dare to go to police."

The accused escaped form spot with in their auto. The woman somehow returned to her house and narrated everything to her family.

She added, "I was unwell and scared so could not approach police."

However, on Wednesday evening, she lodged a complaint with police.

SHO inspector Davinder Kumar said that the police have received the complaint on Wednesday night and immediately lodged FIR. The woman told police that the accused were calling each other by their names thus the accused were identified.

Inspector said, "The police further have arrested the auto driver by late night but his accomplices are absconding. The police are investigating the case and will arrest both accused soon."
