PATNA: A day after CBI sleuths dug out bones from a burning ghat in Muzaffarpur, the alleged remains of a 15-year-old girl who was missing from
Muzaffarpur government children home, it sent three accused to judicial custody after interrogating them for 13 days.
The accused who were sent back to judicial custody by CBI were suspended assistant director of child protection unit Rozi Rani and prime accused Brajesh Thakur’s two employees Vijay Kumar Tiwary and Guddu Patel.
Vijay was the driver of Brajesh and is said to be his confidante while Guddu was the operator of his printing press which ran in a building connected internally with the children home which ran from Sahu Road under Town police station area in Muzaffarpur.
The home was run was Seva Sankalp Ewam Vikash Samiti, an NGO run by Brajesh where minor girls were allegedly raped.
CBI sources said it was on indications of Guddu that bones were recovered from six feet below the earth behind a Kali Temple at the burning ghat.
“The bones would be sent for forensic examination for DNA sampling as well as to ascertain that it was of a human only,” sources said.
Altogether 44 minor girls were living at the children home after it came to light following a social audit report by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) which indicated their violent sexual and physical abuse.
The trio along with Brajesh’s another employee Santosh Kumar were arrested on September 20 from different locations after which they were taken on remand next day for interrogation. Santosh was returned to jail earlier while rest three were rigorously interrogated by CBI sleuths.
Till now, 14 accused have been sent behind bars in the case of which ten were arrested by Muzaffarpur and rest four by CBI after they took over the investigation after lodging an FIR on July 28 this year.
