Rajkot: Three persons were arrested for possessing firearms and cartridges from a garden in Rajkot Marketing Yard on Thursday.
The accused were identified as Jala Bambhava (40), a resident of Nava Vaghasia of Wankaner taluka in Morbi district, Bhala Mundhwa (55), a resident of Shrinathji Society on Mawdi Road in Rajkot, and Kanji Chawda (47), a resident of Bahadurgadh village of Morbi taluka.
“From Bambhava’s possession we found two country-made pistols and two cartridges, worth Rs 20,200, while another one with 15 cartridges, worth Rs 11,500, were found on Mundhwa. Another country-made pistol with three cartridges, worth Rs 5,300, were found on Chawda,” said Rajkot detection of crime branch sub-inspector Mahavirsinh Jadeja.
Of the accused, Chawda was released from prison three months ago after being arrested in a murder case, while Bambhava was earlier arrested for possessing a firearm. “It was Bambhava who had come to Rajkot to help the co-accused sell off the firearms and cartridges,” added Jadeja.
