Gandhinagar: After hosting 20 workers from
West Bengal, the
Gujarat BJP is set to send some of its senior members to the eastern state, where it is fast emerging as the primary opposition party.
Senior Gujarat BJP member Amit Thakar has been appointed the party coordinator in West Bengal, along with Pradipsinh Vaghela and Prithviraj Patel who will be joining him as assistant coordinators. The party also plans to send several other workers from Gujarat to take on the ruling Trinamool Congress.
The BJP recently sent 20 workers from Bengal to Gujarat on an exposure trip. They travelled across the state and attended meetings of party committees at various levels to understand the functioning of the BJP, starting at the booth levels. The vistaraks also met senior leaders, including the state BJP president.
The party is sending workers f rom North Gujarat and Saurashtra to campaign in election-bound
Rajasthan. Partymen from the central and south Gujarat will go to Madhya Pradesh, where elections are due later this year.
Meanwhile, to counter the opposition Congress, which has been smelling a reversal of electoral fortune in Gujarat and has launched a jan sampark campaign to reach out to the voters as well as raise funds from October 2, the BJP is setting up a statelevel call centre to tell people about party’s programmes and achievements of the state and central governments. There will also be call centres covering twothree
Lok Sabha seats.
