Prithvi Shaw, Mumbai’s 18-year-old batsman, took the fans by storm on Thursday when he made his way to a spectacular fifty on Test debut in Rajkot.
Shaw, who became India’s 293rd Test player, displayed some fearless batting and extreme mature innings for a batsman for that age. In doing so, he reminded Indian cricket fans of their very first attacking Test batsman, Virender Sehwag.
Feels like virender sehwag is batting.. prithvi shaw is new era of indian cricket.. what say? @the_SGBhavsar @UPStatsman @bhogleharsha @virendersehwag #INDvsWI

The nostalgic fans also compared Shaw’s cover drives and footwork to Sachin Tendulkar.

Temperament of a Sehwag, technique of a Sachin and backlift of a Lara. That's #PrithviShaw :) Shining bright already in his debut. #IndvsWI

The 18-year-old reached his maiden Test fifty and that ensured he now has the best score by a teenager on Test debut for India.
At 18 years and 329 days, Shaw became the fourth youngest batsman to have the first ball of a Test and he also was the youngest Test debutant for India in a decade.
Young Shaw had a dream-come-true moment when he received his Test cap from none other than the Indian skipper, Kohli.
Shaw has appeared in a total of 14-First-Class games, scoring 1,418 runs with an impressive average of 56.72. He scored a hundred in his Ranji Trophy and Duleep trophy debuts respectively and certainly the teenager will be keen to replicate that on the biggest platform of Test cricket as well.
