Nagpur: A 30-year-old woman allegedly strangled her 9-year-old son before ending her life on late Wednesday night at Pravesh Nagar. The woman, Amrin B Shafi, 30, also left a note on the wall stating that she is committing suicide at her own will.
After separating from her first husband, Amrin was living with her second husband Irfan, son Umar Shafi (9) and a daughter (4) since last two years. Umar was Amrin’s son from her first husband.
According to the cops, Irfan who works as a driver had gone out for some work on Wednesday. The mother and her two children were alone at home. Amrin’s daughter told cops, when she woke up after taking a nap, she saw her mother strangling Umar and later hanging herself to a ceiling fan. She rushed to her neighbour’s place and informed them about the incident.
When cops reached the spot, Umar was found lying on floor with a long scarf rounded around his neck. Cops said, the cause of death is yet to be established as the post mortem report is yet to come. The reason behind the drastic step is unclear.
Yashodhara Nagar police have currently registered a case of accidental deaths while the further investigation is under way.
