Tried to implicate boy’s father for the murder initially

A Delhi court has sentenced a couple to life imprisonment for killing a six-year-old boy with the intent to grab the properties of the victim’s father.

The prosecution said the deceased was the son of the accused man’s brother. The couple initially tried to implicate the boy’s father Yogender Solanki in the case by calling the police control room claiming that the “drunkard father had murdered his son”.

During investigation, the police was able to prove the couple had lied and concluded that Ravinder Solanki and his wife Suman had murdered the boy.

In his deposition, the boy’s father submitted that the accused thought he was a drunkard and by killing his son they would get all the property. He said they had also planned to implicate him in his son’s murder.

Believing his deposition, Additional Sessions Judge Sudesh Kumar-I at the Karkardooma courts said: “The discussion suggests that accused persons tried to implicate Mr. Yogender Solanki, the father of the deceased, in the present case but could not succeed as evidence on record specifically indicates the involvement of the accused persons in the present case.”

“Accordingly, it is held that the deceased was murdered by Ravinder and his wife Suman in furtherance of their common intention. As such, both the accused persons, Ravinder and Suman, are held guilty of the offence under Section 302 IPC read with Section 34 IPC, and are convicted accordingly for the offence under Section 302 IPC read with Section 34 IPC,” the judge said.

Fine imposed

Sentencing the couple to life imprisonment, the judge said: “Both the convicts, Ravinder and Suman, are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of ₹10,000 each under Section 302 IPC read with Section 34 IPC.”
