Booked for damaging newly asphalted road in Whitefield

An assistant executive engineer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has filed a case against a telecom company for allegedly damaging a newly asphalted road to lay an Optic Fibre Cable. According to the complainant, Swamy, the BBMP has started asphalting the road between Varthur Kodi and Whitefield which is part of a signal-free corridor.

However, at a recent inspection, he found that 700 metres of the footpath had been dug up by a telecom company. As a result, rainwater had seeped into the road and damaged it.

This resulted in BBMP incurring a loss of around Rs. 12 lakh, he said in his complaint.

The Whitefield police have taken up a case and booked the telecom company under various sections of the Karnataka Open Places Disfigurement Act.
