YAMUNANAGAR: Despite all the accused in the FIR having been identified, Yamunanagar police have not made any arrests in the case of gangrape of a newlywed woman. In the FIR registered on September 27, family members of the survivor alleged that she was not allowed to stay with her husband after the marriage and was allegedly raped by her two brothers-in-law and four occultists (tantriks).

A team from the Yamunanagar women police station visited her village in Kurukshetra. A police team also recorded statements of the middleman who mediated the relationship.

On September 29, the police team took the survivor to the crime spot and drew the scene for investigation. On October 1, both parties were called to the Yamunanagar police station and statements of the survivor as well as the accused, including her husband, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law and the four tantriks were recorded.

Yamunanagar deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Raj Kumar said, “We are thoroughly investigating the matter and teams were sent to Kurukshetra for investigation. We want to investigate this matter fairly to avoid convicting any innocent person. Therefore, it will take some time to complete the process. Relevant action will be taken very soon.”
