Kejriwal demands Centre to reduce petrol, diesel by minimum Rs 10 per litre

New Delhi, Soon after the Modi Government announced a cut in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.50 a litre, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday accused the Centre of ‘betraying’ people and demanded that fuel prices should be reduced by Rs 10.

The Chief Minister in a tweet in Hindi said, ‘Modi government increased excise duty by Rs 10 per litre and cutting down only Rs 2.50 today. This is betrayal. The central government should reduce minimum Rs 10 per litre.”

Mr Kejriwal had earlier accused the Modi Government of hiking the excise duty of petrol from Rs 9.48 to Rs 19.48 a litre.

“The Modi government increased excise duty on petrol from Rs 9.48 to Rs 19.48 per litre. That’s why the price of petrol is increasing in India despite drop in the prices of crude oil,” the Chief Minister said in a tweet last month.
