3 trains to arrive early

Schedule of Malabar, Intercity, Vanchinad Express advanced

Railways have announced that three popular trains — Malabar Express, Intercity Express and Vanchinad Express — will arrive early at Thiruvananthapuram Central from October 5.

From Friday, 16630 Mangalore Junction-Thiruvananthapuram Central Malabar Express will reach Central at 9.30 a.m. instead of 9.40 a.m. Train 16341 Guruvayur-Thiruvananthapuram Central Intercity Express will reach the capital at 9.50 a.m. instead of 10.15 a.m and 16303 Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Central Vanchinad Express will arrive at Central station at 10 a.m. instead of 10.25 a.m from Friday.

Office-goers to benefit

The decision to advance the time were announced by Divisional Railway Manager Shirish Kumar Sinha at the 71st Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting held at Divisional Railway Manager’s Office here on Wednesday. Railways are of the view that the advancement of arrival of these trains will be beneficial to office-goers.

The move comes in the wake of the mounting criticism, signature campaign against the late running of the trains and MPs taking up the issue at a recent meeting convened by the General Manager, Southern Railway.
