Municipal Corporation seals 24 shops built on Wakf land

LUDHIANA: The MC has sealed 24 illegal shops in Nigger Mandi on Wednesday after receiving court orders. The shops were constructed over Wakf Board land, and a complainant first approached civic officials for action, but when MC did not act, he filed a case in the court. The court summoned MC officials for not taking action on the complaint, and ordered officials to seal the illegal structures.

Assistant town planner Mohan Singh confirmed the move, and said they had sealed 24 shops constructed on Wakf Board land, and they had also requested the Wakf Board to take over the land. He said earlier they did not act, because the land belonged to the Wakf Board, and they could not interfere.
