Chennai, October 4, 2018: DISHA Sports Academy, a CSR initiative by The Ma Foi Foundation to identify talents in sports today distributed annual sports kits to underprivileged children from the city. Mr.Ma Foi K Pandirajan, Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture graced the occasion and distributed the sports kits to students along with 2018 Asian Games bronze medalists in sailing, Mr.K C Ganapathy and Mr. Varun A Thakkar.
Other eminent dignitaries, Thiru C A Kuttapa, Subaidar, Indian Army, Dhronacharya Awardee – Boxing 2018 and Coach of the Indian National Boxing, Ms Latha Rajan, co-founder, Ma Foi group of companies and Managing Trustee of The Ma Foi Foundation and Rtn. Subash, Managing Director – Balaji Sea Land Services also graced the occasion.
The academy, established in the year 2009 aims to provide opportunities to children from across Tamil Nadu to train in four sports disciplines – athletics, football, boxing. Over its 10 year-long journey, the academy with the support of world-class trainers and top-notch facilities has trained over 1500 children, who have represented the state at various competitions nationally and internationally.
Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Latha Rajan, co-founder Ma Foi Group of companies and Managing Trustee of The Ma Foi Foundation, said, “Tamil Nadu is a state brimming with talent across fields, especially in sports we come across enthusiastic and enterprising children every day. With such innate talent, the children are in need of strong training facilities and a dedicated trainer that would help hone their skills in the right manner. Keeping this in mind, we at DISHA Sports Academy are extremely delighted to lend a helping hand to these children in a small yet significant way.”
