A majority of 217 secretaries of clubs affiliated to Hyderabad Cricket Association have threatened to boycott duties in the conduct of the second Test match between India and West Indies here from October 12.
The secretaries, it is said, have been told that only 2,000 complementaries would be given to all of them and those include the former and current internationals, Ranji players, bureaucrats and police.
“We are disappointed with the clear message emerging from the COA and BCCI that only 40 of the 217 club secretaries would be given accreditation cards,” said a former HCA Secretary, who along with former HCA president G. Vivek Venkatswamy, In-charge President K. Anil Kumar, and Prakash Chand Jain attended a meeting on Wednesday evening. Earlier, all the secretaries used to get accreditation cards for free access anywhere inside the stadium for all international matches.
“And worse, many of the club secretaries have also been told that they would be given only two complementaries each for the Test unlike in the past when a minimum of 15 each were given,” he told The Hindu.
“We will represent to the COA and also approach the BCCI in this regard, we will not hesitate to boycott the Test itself,” he said.
