Twenty-seven victims of trafficking, including two infants, were rescued in a post-midnight raid conducted by a team led by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in north-west Delhiās Shakurpur on Wednesday.
Preliminary medical tests have stated that of those rescued, at least 15 are minors, said a senior NCPCR official.
The NCPCR team was accompanied by police personnel, who carried out a raid between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving a complaint from NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan regarding trafficking of minor girls for flesh trade and sale of infants.
Main accused Ajay Kumar, his wife Soni Devi and their accomplice Rita Kumar are absconding. However, two persons have been arrested.
An FIR has been registered under Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code which carries a punishment of seven years to life imprisonment as well as provisions under the JJ Act, which carries a punishment of up to three years.
