Citing necessary runway repairs and maintenance works, the Delhi and Mumbai airports will shut down operations periodically till the end of March 2019. Being India’s two busiest airports, it is estimated that the shutdowns will affect at least 2,000 flights beginning from November 2018 and stretching through the first quarter of 2019. According to airport operators, the maintenance operations have been planned with proper coordination between stakeholders, including airlines. Passengers can expect to be the victim of sudden flight ticket price hikes, delays and disruptions.
