JAIPUR: Chief minister
Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday, launched the fourth phase of her ambitious Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan (
MJSA), which would cover 4,000 villages of the state.
The Raje government has claimed that groundwater level in the state has been increased by 4.66 feet while 63% of the hand pumps and 20% of the tube wells have been restored in villages, which were covered under the MJSA scheme.
While talking about the achievements in the last three phases, CM Raje claimed that more than 3.80 lakh water storage structures have been constructed in 12,056 villages of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Raje said that it was because of her government’s efforts that the state today stood as an example for water conservation as groundwater level has increased after the implementation of the MJSA scheme.
In her address Raje said, “MJSA scheme will change the lives of the people in future. NITI Ayog has made a special reference of the scheme in the National Water Index Report. This has been achieved with the dedication of our government.”
She further said that National Green Tribunal has recommended the implementation of the scheme in other states as well and the state government has been invited by the Union Agriculture Ministry to give a presentation on the MJSA scheme.
MJSA was launched in January 2016 with an aim to make villages of the state self-reliant in basic water needs with emphasis on drinking and livestock water requirements. Under this scheme, it was planned to construct water storage structures, watershed development, water harvesting related activities and others.
