To spread the message of environmental protection, people from a cross-section of society formed a human chain here on Tuesday highlighting the need for collective efforts to check degradation of natural resources and protect the environment for a greener future.
The event was organised by the Telangana Pattana Pranthala Abivrudhi Vedika at the Zilla Parishad Centre here. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sadaniranjan, town-based gastroenterologist Dr Bharavi, and Vedika State leaders K. Giri and E. Srikanth participated in the human chain.
In a meeting held prior to the event, the organisers underlined the need for conscious efforts by every citizen to avoid use of plastic carry bags and other non-biodegradable material, imbibe the culture of cycling and promote sapling plantation.
Students and teachers from various educational institutions, apart from representatives of different mass organisations, also took part in the campaign.
