GUWAHATI: The sprawling campus of IIT-Guwahati has been adjudged the second cleanest among all technical institutions and universities (residential) in the country in Swachhata Rankings of the Union ministry of human resource development (MHRD). The
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham from Tamil Nadu bagged the top slot.
The premier institute, located on the northern banks of the Brahmaputra in the city, was among the top 10 engineering institutes of the country in the
National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) - 'India Rankings 2018', released by the MHRD early this year.
"The people associated with cleaning, both institute employees and outsourced staff, have done a marvellous job. The users have been careful in maintaining cleanliness. We need to be more proactive in matters related to cleanliness and the cleaning staff require improved gadgets specifically for cleaning the dinning spaces in hostels, drains and toilets," said IIT-Guwahati director Gautam Biswas.
