Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) here has advised fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea with a low pressure area likely to form over south-east Arabian sea adjoining the Lakshadweep on October 6.
It is likely to concentrate into a depression during the subsequent two days and move north-west. Hence, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during October 6-8 off the south Kerala coast, Lakshadweep area, Comorin area and south-east Arabian sea.
And, those in deep sea are advised to return coast by October 5, according to an official bulletin issued through the Indian Ocean Forecast System based on the numerical weather model guidance.
High wind alert has been sounded along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu south, Lakshwadeep, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Fishermen at deep sea areas of south-east & central Arabian Sea have been advised to return to the coast before October 7.
High swell waves in the range of 2.5-2.7 metres are forecast during 17.30 hours on October 2 to 23.30 hours of October 3 along the west coast of Andaman Islands from Ten Degree Channel to Coco Channel.
The surface current speeds vary between 63-70 cm/sec.
The surface current speeds at Nicobar Islands will vary between 61-90 cm/sec, the bulletin added.
