October 4 is celebrated annually as World Animal Day

The mission of the Animal Day is to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. The main focus of the Animal Day is to protect the endangered species, natural habitat and welfare of the animals. The day started in 1931 in Florence, Italy to highlight the difficult state of endangered species.
